Floodgates Shall Open Wide! 3/1/2006 9:23:52 AM
My personal experience of the process of writing poetry. Before about a week ago I never really envisioned myself as a writer, and yet here I am, publishing poetry on the internet. I've had an experience writing like I never would have imagined however. During the day, ideas for poems just seem to build up in my head, and then, in the evenings, when I open the blank book I write material in before publishing it, its almost as if the floodgates open and the Ganges of thought floods out of my brain. Sometimes I'll only write a single poem, some nights, I'll find myself writing two or three, almost one after another. Its an incredibly good feeling of accomplishment when I'm done, knowing that the material I've written is completely original and mine, no one else's. Of course, it's going to be really cool when I publish my first collection, but I have a feeling that might not be for a while now.
