Pointless Poetry
10/16/2006 10:42:58 AM

Those of you that follow my work closely, have probably noticed the appearance and relatively quick disappearance of a certain peice titled "the Wheel." After rereading it myself, I realise most probably found it extremely difficult to get through even the first stanza, and really it was little more than a peice of garbage. I wrote the peice in an extremely emotional state as a response to a movie I had watched recently. The movie, titled "For the Love of a Child" is possibly the most disturbing, upsetting movie I have seen in a long time. It is about two women who, back during the Viet Nam War, abandon a career in entertainment to found an organisation to help abused and neglected children. However, the movie follows a second plot string set in the modern day, about a young boy who is rescued by this organisation from his abusive father. The movie follows relatively closely his experiences in therapy trying to recover from what was done to him, and we as an audience are shown just how cruel his father and mother were. The movie was a lifetime made-for-tv peice, so if you want to see it, you'll have to wait until they show it again. However, you can find it on imdb.com. The poem I wrote was basically saying that god couldn't possibly exist if things like this are allowed to go on in the world. However, those of you who have followed my work closely over the past year or so, know that I have come to have a very strong belief in the existance of god. I guess I was just questioning my faith for a while there, although who wouldn't after seeing something like that? Anyway, I'm back, the offending, useless peice of poetry is gone, and its time to move on.
