LONG SWORDS, HOT HEROES, AND WARRIOR WOMEN What have I been up to? I had a book signing at the Hastings bookstore in Galveston on Saturday. I wore my 1st century AD Celtic dress and I met a lady who was bedecked in Celtic jewelry and loves everything Celtic. I asked her if she goes to the Celtic Clear Lake Music festival each year as Clear Lake is a 30 minute drive or less from Galveston. She didn't know about it. She's gong to goggle it and plans on going. So hopefully I'll see her there. I always go, its each year in October. Galveston and Clear Lake are part of the Houston Texas area.
She had a personal Celtic story. I meet people at books signings all the time that tell these to me, some have been: a young married couple of Irish ancestry who married on St. Patrick day, one was a lady whose Irish grandmother always told her on the first of May to throw a coin down a well at sunrise. And so many more. This lady’s Celtic story was when she was in labor at the hospital, she and her husband still hadn't picked out a name for her son. So she yelled out Rorry during labor and so that’s the name she gave him. Later on she looked it up and it meant Red Headed Irish King and she was thrilled as she felt it was the perfect name.
He was with her in the bookstore, red headed and cute as a button. I think he was about 7 years old. I give out these suckers that are shaped like a leaf with a candy acorn on them and I attach a business card with "Tress are sacred. Read an e-book save a tree" printed on it. I handed him one and he thanked me and came around the book signing table and hugged me. So I said, here have another. And I gave him two. He was so darling. He’d make a wonderful king.

ANCEINT SCOTTISH BRONZE AGE NEWS:
“One of the oldest boats discovered in Scotland is being excavated
and raised from its site in the Tay Estuary. The Carpow log boat,
as it is known, situated near Abernethy, was discovered in 2000.
Identifying it as a log boat, used for fishing and wildfowling,
Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust radiocarbon dated it to 1000BC -
the late Bronze Age.”

ANCEINT SCYTHIAN FIND OF THE WEEK:
“Research workers of the German archaeological institute have
discovered a mummy in permafrost at excavation work in Mongolia
of approximately 2,500 years old. A crew of the German
television channel ZDF was present at the 'sensational' find of a
sepulchre chamber of the Scythian rider people . In front of the
camera the archaeologists opened the sepulchre where the mummy of
the Scythian soldier was stored.”
