Thoughts About Mark Foley and the Blame Game 10/13/2006 1:43:17 PM
Lots of fingers are being pointed at who did know or should have known about Mark Foley's conduct and who should have done something about it. There's enough blame to go around from beginning to end. Now it is time to start talking about how do we educate polititians, business people, teachers, etc. how to identify, stop inappropriate behaviors, and refer for treatment. It should be as important to have a plan around these issues as it is to have a plan of what to do in case of a fire. Actually, it is more likely to happen that a fire. It is not the ientified sex offender you need to worry about, it is the unidentified senator, clergyman, handyman, business man, or boy scout leader with a sexual problem. We have got to take this problem (sexual abuse of males) out from under the covers and start talking about it and educating folks about what to do, just like we did for sexual abuse of girls.
