My First Feature Film Shoot 9/4/2006 9:15:19 PM
It has been quite a while since I added to my blog. In the unlikely event that someone expects an apology, I will note that I have been very busy this summer: • I moved. • I taught three different mime classes, and choreographed four different mime skits for five student performances in a single weekend. • I had my first experience as a motion capture (mocap) artist at SIGGRAPH, an annual computer graphics industry conference, using my mime skills and motion capture technology to animate characters in real time. • I performed all over the place. However, what occasions this return to blogging, is that this evening, I did my first shoot on a feature film. The film is an independent character driven science-fiction drama entitled Circuit directed by Andrew Landauro and written by Andrew Landauro and Ben Woodard. Originally, I had auditioned for one of the lead roles in an attempt to extend my horizons as a performer. When Ben called me back a week later, he explained that while he and Andrew did not think that my interpretation was anything like what they had envisioned for the character of Doug, they had decided to write a new character for me. It?s a small role, but the dialogue was well written, the location was the neon-lit exterior of the Coolidge Corner Theatre in Brookline, MA, and I had the important props of a top hat, a baguette, and a grocery bag.
