In one way, it was sad to hear of the death of the Dear Mr./Dr./Rev Jerry Falwell (Remember: God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.); some minorities were overjoyed. I remember reading an article in the late 70s about a reporter who visited the church he pastored. She related in her article how a deacon greeted her warmly with, "I'm so glad you're here today. He's with us!" She wrote it was as though God was giving the sermon that day. Her brief article ended with a devilish twist when she stated that the town had two commodities in common: Fleet Enemas and Jerry Falwell.
Shortly thereafter, I picked up a bumper sticker proclaiming "The Moral Majority Is Neither" and placed it on my car. Several days later, I drove to a desolate area along the Potomac River in Virginia for some solitude and when I returned to my car, someone had used a screwdriver on both back tires. Obviously, someone knew I did not like Jerry and his political ties.
I can only say "someone" rest his soul as I speak out for the minority.
