Although everyone here continues to treat me great, and they present themselves as happy members of this happy community, there is a definite pecking order. The direct care staff are looked down on by the administration and told that CNAs are a dime a dozen. This may well be true, but from a resident's perspective they are the most important people here. Here is the rundown of a typical day:
• I need to get into or out of bed – CNA
• I need to use the bathroom – CNA
• I need to take a shower – CNA
• My feet get cold at 3:00 AM - CNA
• I drop something on the floor – CNA
Ok, you get the idea. I truly do realize that all of the higher-ups are extremely important, but the ones I depend on for my daily everything is the lowly CNA.
