I cried when I realized this. I was lying in the arms of my beloved when this realization washed over me. I realized why I couldn’t write any poems that truly express what I feel for the love of my life. You can't put an already written poem into a poem. That’s what love is.
It is a poem written between two hearts. Like a ballad written by them through their connection, and only they understand it. It is their hearts and souls thanking each other for making them whole. Being in love is like living the perfect poem. That can't be put into words. It is impossible to do. No one can take the essence of a poem and put it into writing. Some may come close, but... only the writers of that song truly understand what is being said. Only they know the hardships endured to structure their poem that perfect way, only they know all the care put into choosing each word, only they know the silent understandings that dictate the subjects of their poem, the laughter that makes it flow the way it does, and the tears that hold it together. And they’ll continue writing their story the rest of their lives.
There’s no stopping it when two souls connect and start writing. All the lovers can do is sit back and let the magic flow.
