Staggered But Still Standing 10/31/2007 12:00:13 PM
After receiving punishing blows from the left, right and moderator Tim Russert, Hilliary stumbled out of the Democratic debate bruised, bloodied and swollen but still angry and defiant. Finally there was a Dem debate that was worth watching, if nothing else for the pure pleasure of watching Hilliary stammer and stutter when asked for specific answers. Her answer to Russert's question on whether she supported the New York governor's decision to give a drivers license to illegals reinforced Edwards and Obama's claim that Hilliary was guilty of double talk and not being honest with the voters. In less than a minute from the time she said it, she turned around and denied ever saying she did support the governor. After a couple of minutes of grilling by the other candidates she admitted that she did believe illegals should be granted a driver's license. Evidently she was never told that 72% of New York voters, Democrats and Republicans, disagree.
It was clear through out the debate Hilliary was not expecting the questions and attacks to be so deliberate or requiring direct simple answers. After all she's not only the former First Lady, but also the apparent heir to the throne. Who are these simple minions to ask hard aggressive questions that demand honest answers?
Now I fully understand how Billy Bob must feel when she lays the look upon him. The steady ice cold glare that she sent out to Tim and the candidates that had the nerve to question or disagree with her, sent chills down my spine. It reminded me what Halloween was all about.
If this question had been the only thing she fell short on, I could understand her rush to leave and not meet with the MSNBC crew. All of the other candidates stayed and talked with Chris Mathews and his guests, except Hilliary. She could not get out fast enough. On Iraq, Iran and social security she flipped and flopped on stage like a fish out of water.
So what did the night before Halloween tell us? If the queen inherits the throne, Billy Bob will spend the next 3yrs traveling the world as a powerless World Ambassador. The queen cannot be expected to share the throne with a has been former president. Besides, he had his 8yrs of power and doesn't he still owe her for standing by her man. Wait a minute, I just remembered when Bill had the heart attack had it not been for media pressure and public opinion he would have went through the by-pass surgery alone. I remember him being taken to the hospital and Hilliary flying back to Washington, only returning to New York after the media started asking; "Where's Hilliary?" Maybe standing by your man has a different meaning for Hilliary.
Hopefully Tim Russert and Brian Williams will still have a job and not sent on assignment for the next 2yrs. I'm positive that the Halloween debate will be the last debate that Hilliary will participate in if Tim Russert is the questioner or the moderator.
