Okay, I shouldn't be nervous. I've done all kinds of things in my former life as a university lecturer and researcher. I've given talks to an international audience of hundreds and I've supervised PhD students - but this is different. This is me in my new role as author of a novel - and it's like starting all over again.
Most of all, I'm afraid no-one will turn up. Secondly, I'm afraid people will turn up - and I'll disappoint them in some way. I'll do a Basil Fawlty and forget my name. Or how to spell it. I'll set off a fire alarm and lock someone in a burning room. No, no - this is getting silly...
If anyone is anywhere near Birmingham (UK) on Thur 19th June or Coventry (UK) on Saturday 21st June, you are very welcome to come along and see me do a silly walk. I mean, I will be signing copies of "Charity's Child" Please see my "events" for details of time and place.
Hope today treats you kindly, whatever you are doing!
