The Wreck
2/1/2008 4:40:56 PM

I was a LPN working in a local Pediatric office until October 11, 1996. That day changed the course in time. Nothing in my life has been the same since.
The day was Oct. 11, 1996. The morning was fresh and the sun was strong, as I crossed the bridge to get the children to school. We had a detour so early in the morning because, I had not done any grocery shopping.
We had to go out and get breakfast at a fast food restuarant.
Getting the chidren to school, on time, was my top priority. After getting the oldest children to school, I dropped my youngest son off at his daycare. On my way down Martin Luther King Avenue, I saw a white truck at a stop sign on the left. At the stop sign on the right, a big yellow school bus was stopped. As the white truck lunged at me, all I could think was let me get this van stopped Lord or I'm going to die. In my mind all I could see was holding on the steering wheel and pushing my break, as hard, as I could. At that time, I felt the truck hit the van right at my left side. When the truck hit me, the van turned around quickly. I closed my eyes to keep from seeing the bus that would kill me. Suddenly, the van had came to a complete stop and I could breath again. Just inches away, from the big yellow bus, I climbed slowly out of the van. God had to be there. There was no other answer. The bus driver came running, claiming to be a witness to the crime. The man from the white truck claimed that the sun blinded him from seeing me. I was really shook up. My back hurt a small bit, but I thought it would go away. The man that hit me stood shakedly with his cell phone calling his son. The police came and no ticket was given to the man. The bus driver signed her name to be a witness. The bus driver wanted me to go to the hospital. I remember not hurting to bad at that time. I was urged to go on to the Emergency Room by the bus driver. I drove the van home.
(This is the beginning of my story from 11 years ago. I will try to keep this updated.)
