It is nothing for Republicans and the Fox network stoogs to talk out of both sides of their mouth, condemning something if a Democrat does it, but then praising the same thing when a Republican does it. Along these same lines, today I received an email from a Republican relative (the black sheep of our family) blaming Obama for causing the current financial crisis, citing his long-time friendship with the SEC head. Rather than blaming the Republicans for deregulation and their allowing Big Business to run uncontrolled in their pursuit of greed until now the economy is facing a complete meltdown with ruination of millions of Americans, it's all Obama's fault somehow. They have circulated emails for months screaming Obama has had only minor experience in Congress and is not a leader. Now suddenly, he singlehandedly is to blame for the mess we are in financially. What a farce!
The true blame rests with the Republican policy of deregulation and letting mortgage companies and banks make high-risk loans doomed to failure. Gramm, who was the chief architect of this policy when he was in the Senate, is now McCain's economic advisor. McCain himself has been a deregulation proponent for years. McCain's staff is replete with lobbyists for Big Business, some of whom are on leave of absence from their lobbying firm to participate in McCain's bid for President. How can McCain claim he will fix the economy's problems if elected
when his staff and advisers are the very ones that helped cause this mess? Are Americans really that dumb? Probably...
Another example of McCain's hyprocrisy: McCain on the Today Show was talking about the need to limit the pay CEO's are getting when they leave a bankrupt company. When asked what about the woman on his own staff who received a golden parachute of $25 million when she was fired by Hewlitt-Packard, McCain got flustered and could only answer meekly that he did not know the details of the package she had received. LOL Talk about not being on top of things...
The Republicans must be held accountable for this financial crisis. It is the result of their deregulation policy and their allowing Big Business to do whatever it wants whether it hurts the country or not, such as increasing profits by sending hundreds of thousands of jobs overseas every year, making loans that were doomed to fail, putting profits over protecting the environment, letting CEO's pay themselves hundreds of millions of $$$ yearly while laying off thousands of workers, letting the lobbyists help make the rules and write the laws that are supposed to keep them honest. The Republicans have slept with Big Business and turned a blind eye while they raped the economy. It is time to put a stop to the Republican failed policies by voting them out of office in both the Executive and Legislative Branches. Throw the bums out! They failed in spectacular fashion in protecting the public and the country. It is time for a change.
