It occurs to me that the Republican party has for years now, since 1964, been catering to the white racists by opposing civil rights, welfare programs, and other issues that benefit mostly poor blacks. They openly have stated we don't care if we don't appeal to the blacks in the South if, by not doing so, we please the whites and get the large majority of white votes. This Southern Strategy has worked for years, since 1964 when Goldwater opposed the Civil Rights act and won the solid Deep South states and no other state.
Now in the southwest, the Republicans seem to be doing the same thing, but with Mexicans instead of blacks. Nationally, they are also openly becoming anti-Muslim. They have made a big issue out of having a Muslim Center built two and 1/2 blocks away (and out of sight) from Ground Zero, when the city of New York approves of it. Say, seems to be a pattern here. Why, could they be becoming the party of white racists? Many of the Tea Bagger Republican candidates seem to fit this mold, including that avowed White Supremacist Republican candidate running for election in the state of New York. He was shown on TV recently bemoaning how whites would become the minority race in America in 40 - 50 years, with those Blacks, Hispanics, and Muslims running things. And what about that Arizona law that REQUIRES police to stop and question anyone who looks suspicious for being an illegal immigrant (say by being a Mexican). That sure smacks of Nazi Germany making Jews wear a yellow star on their outer clothing so they won't pass as a true German, eh? I can foresee one day the Republican Party renaming itself the White Supremacist Party at the rate they are currently going this campaign year.
The new 3 Rs: Republican party = the party of white Racists and Rich people. // Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, poor folks need not apply.
I wish the Republicans at least had to make new ads against their Democratic opponents in each state instead of using the same cookie-cutter ad with the opponent's name changed. That ad showing the same Mexicans sneaking through the hole in the chain link fence has been used repeatedly against various Democratic opponents in various states. Vitter even runs it in Louisiana against his Democrat opponent Melancon, despite Louisiana having the Gulf shores as its southern border. Doesn't matter if the geography is all wrong; the ad gets the racist message across just fine. Why don't they just run an ad saying vote for me since I'm not black like Obama is and be done with it?
I also wish all campaigns ads had to reveal the source of their funding so that the huge corporations and foreign powers that are currently buying this election could be identified. Thanks, Republican-appointed Supreme Court justices, for that outrageous ruling allowing corporations to buy future elections. You got what the Republicans wanted.
