The Iraqi Elections 1/30/2005 12:47:17 PM
One of my high schoold friends is stationed in Iraq and works in Security. I e-mailed him today about the vote and he e-mailed me back. Hi Chris,
I just needed to take this moment to tell you how proud I am of you and every person who has made this election a possibility for the Iraqi people. Freedom should be more than just a dream, it should be a right of all people. I am also proud and humbled by the Iraqi people, themselves, who showed such bravery and will by exercising their right to vote. Great job!!! Thank you to all who serve. Mission accomplished...now, on to the next chapter..."Freedom is never free!"

Thanks, Sherry. We got to pull some exciting duty today, at the place where the President and the Prime Minister voted. The outstanding election turnout was definitely "a bullet in the heart of the terrorists." One guy who had his leg blown off during an earlier terrorist attack said he would have crawled to the polls today if he had had to. Nothing was going to stop the true Iraq from exercising its free agency.
One guy thanked me saying that they never would have gotten to this point without America. It was truly an historic day and I'm glad I was here to witness it despite the fear that went with all the threats. We made it!
