My favorite holiday is Hallloween. Halloween is just for fun-- you don't have to go out and buy presents, everyone gets candy and you can dress up in disguise as anything you want to be. I think most writers like Halloween because essentially that is what our life is-- when we write, we are being anyone we want to be.
Do I identify with my characters? Absolutely! Adria from Love's Challenge shares my love of books and dedication to family-- as well as my serious, practical side and my love of chocolate. And Bryce is modeled after my husband-- although my husband wasn't a football player, he is a blonde-haired blue-eyed charmer who buys me lots of chocolate.
Abby, from Love Under Suspicion, has a lot of the same traits as Abby-- family is very important to her, for one thing. And although I don't fly like Abby does, I married into a family of pilots and I've kind of caught the airplane bug. My brother-in-law used to fly freight so that's where I got Abby's career as a cargo pilot.
When I create characters, there is always something of me in them, and often something of people that I know. Writing allows me to put my fantasies onto paper and share them with my readers. What could possibly be better than that?
