Special Request for Book From Mayor's Office 2/26/2009 3:29:19 PM
The Victoria Mayor's office requested a copy of the, City of Gardens: The Other Side of the Fence yesterday. I only presume that the office received one of my flyers yesterday and contacted me quickly after. It seems that City Hall is interested in what I have to say about Victoria, BC, Canada afterall. After a whole year of failed attempts to communicate with City Hall, I was repeatedly ignored until now. With the book launch only being three days away, I find it interesting that the city requested an advanced copy.
For some reason or another, I expect a little fallout from this with City Hall. The book does not glamourize the actions of the city in the past. It actually unviels a lot of information that they would rather to keep under their hat.
The beauty of this is that of, The Freedom of Speach'. I have the right to express my opionons freely in this country, of course with guidelines and law protected restrictions.
I say things that people would only dream of doing. I believe in myself and my message. I may be a lone wolf, but I believe that this is soon to change. I am not afraid to be bucked off the horse, I will just get back on. After the third or forth time, I will shoot the horse and get a new one. Don't get me wrong, I am not going to really hurt someone.
I will; however, change tactics. It is only fair that you read the whole book to fully understand what it is about. Some parts of the book is controversial and not everyone will totally agree with everything I say, but that is a personal choice and freedom that we all poccess in this country.
I am not in the business of lying or hurting people, but I speak in what I personally believe to be true. I made a million of mistakes in my life and I am sure that I will make a million more.
This book is certainly like no other book like it about the City of Victoria, BC. I see many of those books as propoganda and marketing ploys. I see what you see and I'm not afraid to talk about it.
Overall, the book leaves the reader on a positive note about the city and paints a picture of hope. If anything, it paints a positive picture with the exception of pointing out some challenges that the city is facing.
I am not about to lie and praise someone or something for that has been done to generate real concerns. If the kettle is black, I will call it black and that is the end of that.
I found out that a lot people tend not to go off the beaten path. Many are afraid of confrontation and will avoid it. I believe in being yourself. It is up to each indvidual to choose which direction that they wish to take. Some paths are rewarding while others carry heavy consequences.
On average, five homeless people die each month in Victoria and alone without a prayer whispered by society. This is why I will fight tooth and nail for my beliefs. I believe in them. I am not alone.
I have thousands of reasons why I am doing what I am doing. Those lives will not be forgotten while I am still alive. I am talking about lost life on the streets of Victoria. I believe in rules, regulations and laws, but I will also fight for the peoples' justice.
I have more respect for a mentally ill, addicted and homeless person than I do for myself. Everytime they get up, they have been kicked down. I am in a position to help them to be seen, heard and respected through my book series. This is what I am going to do.
I am a high school drop-out on a mission. I have no formal training in anything, but I do have something that a text book does not have and that is passion.
Perhaps the city will not crucify me, but to finally lend an ear. All I have to defend myself is my beliefs and morals which I inherited from two of the best people on this planet. Love is my motive and it will never die!!!
