Deeds Speak Louder Than Words
2/25/2010 7:29:00 AM

Fans don't mean sales
I created a FaceBook page for "A Kick in Your Caduceus" and even took the risk of using a advertising page with a budget of $150.00 per month. Not a large investment but in these days of dwindling resources still a bit ofr just a private individual.

The page had garnered a few fans, about 40 at least count, the first twenty of so were relatives and friends but now about half are folks I do not know and have never met. You would think some percentage of these fans, understanding the issue (Alzheimer's) would have purchase the book to show support. To date the sales have totaled about $30 worth of royalties for Alzheimer's and a matching amount in a fund for my Father-In-Laws future care. None of these sales were a result of the Facebook page. 1 sale was to my Father, 1 to my daughter and 10 to my Doctor. The only one that is a fan on the page is my daughter and she purchased the book (actually as a donation to her local library as she already has a signed copy) before the page was active.

So, I must ask, are these true fans or just joiners that will join anything that doesn't offend them if it pops up on facebook? Anyway, back in the days of cold mailouts to mail lists if you got a 2% response you were doing good, so I guess I just have to be patient..

Keep writing!

Mike
