More people have died in the name of God/Religion than all the world wars, apartheid, holocaust and plagues! Something is terribly wrong with this... I wanted to start the first blog off with something befitting of the purpose and mission of 1 S.O.U.L. and acronym for "One Source Of Universal Love." It was founded with the loftiest of ideals to bring people from different walks of life, ethnicities, religions, cultures, languages and beliefs together in unity in the name of Love.
As the famous saying goes "this is more easily said than done!" It seems that no matter how noble your cause may be there will be those who will resist and oppose you simply because they may not agree with the way you are going about it. During the short span of existence of 1 S.O.U.L. I've come across those who seem to believe that and I quote "hell is full of good people!"
Which leads to the subject of this blog... I know that people will perhaps never agree on the name of God, the Holy Trinity, Godhead, the proper religious practice & expression, heaven & hell, the purpose of life, orthodoxy or mysticism, etc etc etc. But is it possible that people can agree on the practice of Love?
I think everyone "in name" wants to say they are loving, love their family, neighbors and so forth but that "love" seems to stop when it comes to those we disagree with. Even a solder or terrorist believe they are doing a noble and loving mission in the name of their country or God. Most of us are incapable of practicing love for our enemies. And even less capable of loving unconditionally!
The problem is that most of us believe in a God who doesn't practice unconditional love. We may say we do but if you believe in a God that punishes souls eternally in hell for not "getting it right" then is that unconditional love? So if mankind is incapable of coming together in the name of God, are we capable of coming together in the name of Love?
Is God not synonomous with Love? Is it possible that mankind could be united in Love and yet somehow still stand against God and his will? Or is God always present where there is Love? Is it even possible for anyone to love anything or any person without the power of Love borrowed from God? What do you think? I worshipping a Higher Power more about fear of self-destruction? Which has the greater power, God or Love in the world today?
