Today's Thoughts I was thinking this morning, the universe seems to have such ornery plans for us. It trifles with our hearts and our souls, never being specific, always holding back to allow us to choose our own path, letting us feel every decision we make is the right one, when all there really is, is love. There is no death as we know it, only infinity before and after, which is an amazing concept to try and grasp with our minds ... for only our hearts can truly "see".
What opens our hearts to love and intimacy is sharing our vulnerabilities. That's really not as hard as we think it is -- if we really love someone. We've all seen the rare couple who has done this over a lifetime and, in the process, they've grown old together. Just being near them, we sense an enormous comfort and peace, and the shared love between them radiates. It's beautiful, and again, very rare. Without this quality of openness and vulnerability, partners never really know each other; they are merely one being living with another being.
When love is accompanied with deep intimacy, it raises us to the highest level of human experience. It is in this space that we can surrender our egos, become vulnerable and know levels of joy and love unique among all of life's experiences. Our boundaries of separateness are blurred with no limitations and we become as one and, at the same time, we are both.
