my neighbors are deer i am distressed. we now have had triple digit temperatures for 29 days. we are not accustomed to this. at first it affected my tomatoes, then my peppers, then myself...very depressing and now...the deer that we share 10 acres with. the oppressive heat, has pressed a young (days old) fawn and her mother to our pond. this would be fine, as it serves as a Serengeti...to frogs, turtles, birds, squirrels, and other small game that my two large dogs do not bother...but a fawn, that seems to deserve their interest. my dogs have run off once and attacked the second time this young deer as her mother stands by disconnected with what to do...i fear her and her mother are desperate in these desperately hot times where other water sources no longer exist and they will continue to risk the pond where the dogs are on guard. please any suggestions will be helpful. i contacted the state wildlife department today...and will fill tubs and spread deer corn across one of our fences where our dogs can not reach...i fear for their continued existence in this heat.
