Tic Tic Tic...

There is a clock in my office. I don't usually notice it, but for some reason all I can hear is the incessant ticking of the second hand as it tumbles across the face of that cruel clock. It is deafening!!! What happened to my quiet little cup of coffee I enjoy each moment as I ponder my day? That booming tic is invading my solitude. I hear it above my mom teaching women's group in the fellowship hall. I hear it over the roar of the busy traffic on the road outside my office this morning. I hear it over the sounds of ladies coming in late to the meeting and my secretary talking on the phone across the hall in her office. I wonder what the deal is? Maybe I am supposed to take something from that: Perhaps I should be making better use of my time? I guess I really have been too busy and caught up in my own rat-killing this week: I should maybe stop some and smell the roses. Yet, the pounding that second hand is making seems to be more compelling me to something than it is to slowing me down. Is there some urgent task I have left undone? Is time running out on my window of opportunity? What should I do? Someone who needs me to reach out to them? Someone who needs encouragement? Someone who needs my time today? What does that clock want from me? The echoes of that "tic tic ticking " is dominating my thoughts so much I feel frozen in time, unable to act because I am so aware of its slipping away. What does this mean? What shall I do? What course of action is required of me to remove the curse of that ticking clock from my mind, my heart, my soul. Ahhhhhh...That is much better. Hard to believe it was just a little "Double-A" battery causing all that confusion and turmoil to disrupt my morning coffee. Now, back to my rat-killing....
