Just want to take this time to throw something out there, I received a parking ticket the other day and of course it truly pissed me off for I could have used that money on something like a extra large pizza with extra cheese and wash it down with a soda. I know it doesn't sound like a healthy diet, but hey that's what I like. However back to my venting, after I sent that ticket payment off, I got to thinking.

Why did I have to pay that ticket in the first place? Allow me to paint the picture for you, my car was parked in a residential neighborhood just behind this lounge I frequent from time to time, it's a bit annoying because parking is hard to come bye over there due to the fact they have signs posted on the block that states in order to park on their street you must have a parking permit.

  Initially that sounds fair enough, but after I gave it some thought, that crap didn't sound fair at all. Think about it, this was a public street and not a private driveway of someone's residence. Meaning that if it's a public street then it's my tax paying dollars that is paying for the up keep of their so-called street! So snow removal, street cleaning, or getting their street repaved it will be accomplished with the assistance of  my tax dollars for them to benefit from. I asked around, and just as I thought, the people of that community wasn't paying anything extra for their so-called block. No extra money was being spent out of their pockets for snow removal, no extra money is coming out of their pockets to clean their street.

So if that was the case, what gives them the right to reserve that street? especially if they are depending on our tax paying dollars to receive the services? If you're thinking like I was thinking at the time, then we can agree that they have no right at all! Because in all honesty that was not their street, for that street belongs to everyone who are paying property, city, and state taxes! Why should we need a permit or get fined for parking on a street that we already own? Lets take it a step further, the same should apply throughout our cities no matter what city you reside in, when you think about it, from downtown and throughout, the city streets belongs to the people especially when you take into consideration that it's our tax paying dollars that builds these streets as well as maintain the up keep of these streets. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not telling you to go out there and refuse to pay your next parking ticket, but if you decide to rebel against the system, I truly Overstand!
