There are reasons why we humans create “rules” to follow. It’s for our own protection and sanity. Of course it is also to save money and embarrassment too. Take the following two examples which happened within the same day.
A family member who wishes to remain anonymous did not put theseat down when flushing the toilet. As this individual proceeded to spray thehomemade spray I made (water and cinnamon oil) to freshen up the air, thelittle spray bottle fell into the toilet as it was being flushed.
Panic ensued because what if it plugged the toilet? That couldbe costly. The next few trips to the bathroom were anxious ones all the whilewondering if the toilet would behave. It did. Whew!
Now here is where the rule comes in, in case you werewondering what it is. Always put the seat down before you flush the toilet.There are two very good reasons. Why share what is in the toilet with the restof the room? And why take the chance of flushing something that is not supposedto be in the toilet?
Dr. Oz has spoken about air bound particles coming out ofthe toilet into the room as you flush. This is also why (oh three rules herenow) you keep your toothbrushes put away so that “stuff” flying around the roomdoesn't lodge itself inside your toothbrush to later be put into your mouth.
“Every toilet flush creates an unseen mist detected at headheight and can travel up to 15 feet away from the toilet bowl- known as the “AerosolEffect.” Always put the toilet seat down before you flush the toilet because itwill prevent some of the fecal particles from floating up and landing on everyother bathroom surface, and keep your toothbrush covered.” (Dr.Oz Article)
As the day continued, off to McDonald’s we went. It is Monopolygame time and we have won quite a few prices already. Why not keep trying toget the Boardwalk sticker? Anyhow, imagine my surprise when I got a text fromsomeone (who again wants to remain unmentionable) that I needed to getmanagement to bring toilet paper to the restroom. Ha ha ha… The rule... ‘Alwayscheck to see if there is enough toilet paper before’…
