Brother Gone 9/12/2016 5:25:50 AM
I usually do political posts, but decided to do a more personal piece based on things going on in my life. This is a piece for people who have experienced a loss(es).
It has been two months, from notification of your diagnosis to today. Three weeks after your burial, and by God, it hurts horribly.
Little did I know when your family came down last year to see our aging, frail Mom that it would be you that I’m mourning. Does this hurt so much because you are my third sibling that I’ve lost? Does it hurt because you asked me to assist your wife, daughter and grandchildren? Or, does it hurt so much because my niece said, “Daddy said he wanted his sisters” as he lay there dying, and only one of us could go.
I can’t walk into the pool bath, pool deck, or other rooms in the house and not feel your tall presence, or, hear your deep gravelly voice.
I’ve had to delete your name from my smart phone phonebook and address book on e-mail because whenever I’d see them, I started bawling. And of course, everyone says they understand, but I’m not sure they do.
I’ve put all your pictures on my smart phone gallery. When I want to see you, I can view them. This is a way to keep your memory alive.
I thank God I had you as long as I did. I know that eventually the hurt will fade, as it did for our brother and sister.
I love you brother. I keep smiling knowing that in heaven, I have another angel watching over me.
