They Marched To Their Heavenly Home 7/31/2020 4:55:29 AM
Two world-renowned civil rights heroes who have gone on to their heavenly home. We have lost two of our Civil Rights titans this month – C. T. Vivian and Congressman John R. Lewis.
These two great men planned and marched for decades being spat upon, beaten and, arrested to bring about a more perfect union.
It has been such an emotional time, knowing they will no longer walk among us, and they have fought the “good fight,” and are now going to their “heavenly home.”
They knew in their hearts they could go home because of multicultural and inter-generational people who have been marching peacefully since several prominently recorded and televised 21st Century deaths by law enforcement in our Country.
I'm sure their comfort level was eased when they saw the rainbow coalition of stalwart youngsters who chanted “no justice, no peace,” and, “we've got this!” It meant their years in the trenches were not in vain.
Their comfort level I suppose also had to be joyous looking down from heaven when they saw the “Moms in yellow” with locked arms in Portland, Oregon and husbands using leaf blowers to blow away tear gas residue from protesters. Veterans with locked arms fighting for “black lives matter,” as well as displaying a show of strength against autocratic Trump “storm-troopers.” Autocratic because these storm troopers weren't requested by Mayors or Governors, but were sent in by Trump to purportedly protect federal buildings, but escalated things by their presence and behavior.
Our Angel, Congressman Lewis, I'm sure is calling this “good trouble,” “necessary trouble” because people are standing up for justice, and their rights to protest as provided by the 1st Amendment.
As the little boy said in Atlanta, “we've got this!”
Thank you Mr. Vivian and Congressman Lewis, “your truths are marching on to Victory!”
