When her father is murdered, Catherine Reynolds, or "Cat" as she is called, is thrown into a life of mystery, danger and intrigue. She learns secrets about her father and her handsome neighbor, Jim Ryan, that draw her further into danger. Jim Ryan becomes her protector and she finds herself falling in love with him. Will he eventually fall in love with her also? She hopes so. The Mystery of the Cabin in the Woods is an introduction to the Federal Security Commission (FSC), a fictional department of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). This is the first book in a three-book series. The following is an exciting excerpt from the pages of this book:
"Early the next morning, I arose, dressed and gulped down a quick bowl of cold cereal and headed for my car. As I opened the door, someone grabbed me from behind, tied my hands behind me and pulled a pillow case over my head. I tried to scream, but a large hand quickly covered my mouth and I was dragged to a waiting car. I was roughly thrown into the back seat next to another person. I couldn't tell for sure if it was a woman or a man, but what felt like a gun was jabbed into my side and a gruff voice said, "Don't make a move or it'll be your last one."
This would make a wonderful Christmas gift for someone who enjoys reading a mystery novel with a little romance thrown in for good measure.
