Since recently coming to Southern California, I subscribed to the LA Sunday Times. This is a summary of interesting editorials and stories I found today. "How to house the homeless--now"
Marc Trotz, director of Housing for Health lays out a plan to provide housing for the sickest of the homeless in Los Angeles.
"We are targeting the people who are the highest utillizers of the health care system," he says. Many of them have conditions that necessitate care not available on the streets after initial treatment. The article tells us that government housing now in the works will take five years of work and one complex may hold 100 people. Trotz hopes to house 20,000. As he notes in an earthquake disaster we would find the resources to provide for 20,000.
