Secrets about my writing life The best kept secret

As a writer, I had come to New Mexico to seek a new spiritual life. The one my ancestors had known. They had occupied adobe community houses. Their culture is the oldest in New Mexico.
As a writer I had to see this undiscovered land that so little had written about. Me and my girls had come to live this dream. I had been struggling with my writing and I needed something fresh and new. My soul cried out for a big change. First we stayed in Ribera, N.M., we lived so high up on the mountain that the tips of the mountain looked like hills. The stars at night gave a new meaning to twinkling stars. I was surrounded by history. Most of the buildings had been built in the early 1800’s. The school that my five year old attended accommodated her special needs. This made me feel right at home. But even in all this wonder, I was still searching for something, but didn’t know what.
Then we went to live in Eagle Nest and I found what my heart and soul had been searching for. There was something about the sunshine, mountains, the fresh clean air and the undisturbed natural environment, that suggested if there was inner peace, this would be the place.
As a writer, I use all that I learned and loved in New Mexico in almost every book I write. The scenery is still as vivid in my head today as they were 18 years ago.
