Coming out of the stereotypes 4/25/2017 11:49:44 PM
Sci-fi is a genre that most people would associate with as the 'nerd' genre, typically the stereotype is an image of video game players or computer wizards, basically smart people who love science and space.
Sci-fi has come a long way over the years and the fans are growing from the days of the stereotypes. With the long running star wars and doctor who franchise to independence day and the men in black films that use the comedy aspect, more and more people are now becoming sci-fi fans.
On a trip to the cinema last year when I was on holiday with my family, we went to see the remake of independence day 'resurgence' and I was pleasantly surprised at the general age range of the audience which was over 50's. This showed me that the older generation of sci-fi lovers is still going strong.
The younger generation can be inspired by the older generation, keeping the sci-fi fanbase alive worldwide. Therefore we can come to the conclusion that sci-fi is for everyone of any age, from any place. The world needs sci-fi!
