Music and Movement (In a beach read!)

Adding the message of music and movement as possessing healing powers in the pages of time-travel romance, Remake the Song
I write what are often referred to as “beach-reads”. (Although, the term might not have the same meaning it once did, thanks to Lyn-Manuel Miranda reading Ron Chernow’s biography of Hamilton while literally at the beach and becoming inspired to write what ended up as the brilliant musical.)
Most beach reads are NOT biographies or literary fiction…including my books. I freely admit I do not aspire to write Great Literature with a message that resonates for centuries. Love reading them and am in awe of the authors who wrote them ...but as a writer? Just not me. For one thing, I tend to sneak too much humor in my novels even when I’m killing people off or trying to convey a message.
Back to the point...I DO try and convey a message in each book.
I have several “messages” in "Remake the Song". A "biggie" most is about the power of movement and music (especially in combination) to heal…both emotionally and physically.
A man who deserves the credit for recognizing, and using, movement as an incredible resource for healing is Eugene Louis Faccuito (Luigi) (March 1925-April 7, 2015) whose mantra, "Never Stop Moving" has echoed through the minds and hearts of decades of dancers. He healed his own, nearly paralyzed body, back in 1946 and designed a dance technique with the primary goal of preventing injuries. He was a gentle teacher and one never left his class without feeling better, both emotionally and physically. I was so lucky to have been able to take his class (he called me “Texas” :) )
I still keep that mantra Never Stop Moving in my head – as a dancer but also as a person simply trying to deal with daily life.
Oddly, even before I ever took a class with Luigi, I discovered while I was still in college that movement and music combined could literally work miracles thanks to an experience teaching dance at the Waco Veterans’ Hospital. I was able to incorporate part of that experience in "Remake the Song."
While I want readers to love the story and the characters in "Remake the Song"…I also hope that Luigi’s message of healing comes through.
