After Reading my book, Slayer of Innocence, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan asked me to join a panel of experts to testify on my knowledge of pedophile predators and sex offenders at several public hearings she had set up.
Attorney General Madigan's panel of experts would give testimony at these public hearings before a panel of state senators and state representatives on predator pedophiles, serial sex offenders and child abductions. During the month of October, 2003, we testified at 5 hearings across the state with each hearing having different senators and representatives. Testimony was gathered from many victims of sexual assaults, victims advocates, department of corrections, psychiatrists, psychologists, law enforcement officers and writers of books on the subject. The testimony from every witnesses acknowledged the fact that to date there is no known cure for pedophiles and serial sexual offenders. The registration of sexual offenders in already a law, however, that law only requires offenders to register once a year unless they move. All testimony indicated they will become repeat offenders once released from prison regardless of age. The testimony gathered will be used draft legislation for new laws to require lifetime supervision and treatment for all pedophiles and serial sex offenders after they serve their sentences. It was a great honor to be one of only 12 people in the state to be asked to share my experience in investigating sex offenders and predator pedophiles during my career as a policeman. My book Slayer of Innocence was introduced and my booklet Pedophile!, Predators Among Our Children was given as a hand out to everyone attending the hearings.
