BOOK REVIEW: Lessons Learned on My Way Home by Gloria Lewis Vaughn
"Indianapolis has been blessed with another new writer in the form of Gloria Lewis Vaughn with her debut autobiography entitled, "Lessons Learned on My Way Home." Ms. Lewis-Vaughn has done a superb job sharing with the reader her journey through life contained between the pages of this book. She has a remarkable writer style. The words flowed so smoothly throughout the entire book. The scriptures that were provided were an added blessing.
We are introduced to Ms. Lewis-Vaughn beginning with her birth at home on the west side of the city. We cry with her as a young child when she anxiously rushed to school to share with the class the book report she had written about her idol and king of soul music, Mr. Otis Redding. Only to be embarrassed by the teacher who tore the report up and informed the young child that Elvis Presley was the king of soul music.
Journey back through time with her and the Lewis clan as young children play, clean and grow together. You will feel the love that is spilled onto the pages of this novel as the family laughed and grew together. Some very intimate moments were shared during her period of drug use and especially how she found her way back.
The reader will see the consequences of choices that were made, and how the Lord brought her out of her downward spiral and placed her feet back on solid ground. When God has a plan for your life you will see first hand how He will bring you out of whatever situation you are in. Then He will walk you through your spiritual growth to get you where He wants you to be. The reader will enjoy the laughs that will be shared, as well as, the great love for God and His wondrous works through such a dynamic woman of God.
All in all, the life lessons that she learned along her journey will be something that you can enjoy and appreciate. This book is a beautiful testimony of the power of God.
