"Number  7 and Doha proved to be lucky for me" said the Anju Bobby George, now ranked No 3, in the world.  She broke her own record of 6.74 meters and leapt the distance of 6.82 meters, which is her career best performance.  However since  the weather conditions was going against her, her magnificent leapt will not be entered in the wordbooks , since the wind speed recorded was 2.3 m/s ,as the permissible wind speed was 2.0 m/s. Anju bobby is the  first  Indian to win gold medal in the prestigious  IIAF Super Grand Prix circuit at Doha.

Anju   had ranked world no7’ till last week came blow par the distance of 6.46 in Osaka Japan .Her next competition will be in Netherlands on may 31st

Anju said she felt like home coming, while she was in Doha among so many fans and friends when they welcomed her with openhearted joy, she felt overwhelmed by the enthusiasm showered on her.  She has been felicitated in all most all the Indian schools and   association in Doha.  The Indian club of Doha was her last venue to be honored, for the immaculate performance in proving to be the world No 3.  Anju and Bobby were received through the array of children who were waving the national flag into the premises of the Indian club with the song ”hum honge kamiyab” from the kids club.  The guests included the Indian Embassy Councilor Rajendra Bhagat, who presented to her a memento from the Indian Embassy.  The Toyota, who had been the main sponsor for the events in Doha also, offered their support and gratitude by their gift.  All the club officials and members were present, to receive Anju who has made India proud.  Qatar proved to be lucky for Anju," said Bobby George, her coach, and husband.  “Though she performed her carrier best, i am still disappointed, since her best is yet to come”.  He has promised that come with us to Athens and he hopes that all our wishes and prayers are with anju as she performance her unsurpassed in Olympics 2004.
