It's probably a sin to have so much fun...... I got a call Friday night from Bill Reynolds asking me if I would act in a movie that was being shot the next day. Of course I was delighted. There were twenty seven film companies in town to compete in a contest whereby each would draw a topic from a hat and film a movie depicting the theme in two days. Our company was "High Pitched Hum Productions" owned by Don and Tina Flynn. Our theme was "Film De Femme" , whereby we were to show how a woman discovers she has strength and power she didn't realize she had. They had to use the name "Charles Braun" which was my role, say the line: "Who says this is about me..." and show a toilet seat... We filmed at the Mayport Ferry and at Ed and Kristin Malin's neat place out in Palm Valley. In Essence, the Voodoo Lady (Nubia) hires Charles Braun--who brings two not overly bright goons (Mike and Gerald) with him to steal a child rumored to have enchanted powers. The baby's sister, Stephanie Reynolds (Billy's daughter), comes to the rescue with a shotgun, chases the bad guys off and deals with the Voodoo Lady. Our movie was selected for the top 12 out of the 27 teams that entered a film in the 48 Hours Film Project. This is great stuff!! As you can see from the links above, the next screening for the public will be Saturday, August 25, at 12 noon at the San Marco Theater in Jacksonville. The winners from the top 12 will be announced at that time. Gosh, I can hardly wait! If you are in town, join us for the finale on Saturday.
