The Follyhood of Hollywood

Just watched an interview with Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep on CNN…the Contrived News Network. Granted, the interviewees are two of the greatest film actors of their generation. My only criticism is that they should refrain from uttering any public pronouncements beyond the scripts that have been written for them and for which they are paid double-digit millions to memorize and regurgitate.

They are clearly two characters worth hundreds of millions of dollars comfortably nestled into an ‘alternative universe’. Odds are that it has been decades since either of them has made up their own beds, cleaned house, taken out the garbage, cooked a meal or rode on public transport. To their credit, both are reputed to be loving parents which is more than can be said for many of their fellow charlatans.

They live in luxurious homes, stay in lavish suites at 5-star hotels, dine in the finest restaurants, chauffeured in limousines, fly around in sumptuous private jets and have a posse of devoted sycophants catering to all their self-indulgent whims. They have long been completely out of touch with the real world and yet, CNN actually believes that the Common Man gives a damn what they think about the existential issues of contemporary society.

Christiane Amanpour, who never missed polishing a knob that could open the door to a noteworthy interview, behaved like a giggling schoolgirl. At least, she didn’t try to mix in her network’s dog on a bone obsession with Russia’s alleged collusion in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. The only party demonstrably guilty of interfering in that election was CNN itself when they underhandedly let Hillary Clinton know what the questions were prior to the CNN hosted debate. When queried about that, a source close to CNN replied, “Only CNN could get away with that kind blatant collusion. God, we’re clever!”
