Elderly gents such as myself are relentlessly badgered to be concerned with their physical well-being. "You only have one life...join a health club" is the common refrain. Well, I did join a health club for two damn years. I hated it. Eventually, the strain of managing to dodge the maddening traffic of Phnom Penh was so exhausting that I had no energy left to work out once I arrived at the club. So, I quit. As for the bit about only having one life to live, I resolved that issue by subscribing to the tenets of Buddhism...particularly, the thing regarding reincarnation. That was a big relief!
I'm approaching 60 which isn't really thought to be so old these days. Of course, I'm approaching it from the wrong direction but, never mind that. Plus, I have a 7 year old daughter (Bailey) who provides plenty of physical exercise for me. She's, also, a challenge mentally. She'll say or do something which clearly comes from her mother then, she'll say or do something that clearly comes from her father. But, every so often, she'll say or do something which compels me to wonder, "Where the hell did that come from?"
All in all, Bailey is an absolute joy. Well, that is , when she's not being a complete pain in the ass (pita). She provides all the physical & emotional well-being I need. And, it's worth noting that with very little training, I'm only several seconds off the world record for the 100 metre dash...of course, precluding a rest period to catch my breath.
