SAN DIEGO, Calif. – D. E. Gray announces his return to the publishing scene with the release of his seventh
book “Talking Out Loud: The Casey Hoghupper Story” (published by Xlibris), a story about a police officer
who has a guardian angel no one else can see or hear.
Casey Hoghupper, a six-year veteran police officer working LAPD’s 77th Division has a secret. She has a
guardian angel that no one else can see or hear but her. The problem is the other officers in her division
only see her “talking out loud” when no one else is present. The question is, is Officer Casey Hoghupper
losing her mind? The captain of her division and city psychologist Dr. Althea Bianchi are tasked with
finding out if she is still fit to "protect and to serve."

D. E. Gray is a 42-year veteran police officer who has worked at two different agencies: The Los Angeles
Police Department (28 years) and the Escondido Police Department (14 years). His experience and
knowledge as a police officer have allowed him to write about what he knows best, the life of an ordinary
