A few days ago, one of my student workers, Ed Malone, asked me if he could come by and do a Click here about our relationship that spans about 25 years. I gladly conceded and he came to my house and set up his movie equipment to video me.

The resulting promo for his first time Indie movie, Joined at the Heart, was shot in a single take and left largely uncut and only slightly edited.

While watching the Click here, I discovered some things about myself. First, that I can no longer hold my head up straight.  My head has a tendency to lean to the left and I'm afraid it will only get worse in time. Also, I didn't realize how much my breathing and lung capacity has deteriorated, having to stop to take in breath just to speak clearly and loudly enough.

I didn't have any notes or rehearsal for this "candid" uncut taping, so I found myself thinking about what I was going to say next before I said it and fell back into the same problem that President Obama has while thinking--saying "ahh" instead of saying nothing. 

I also kept saying, "so," as a transition instead of just continuing. it seems that I've lost all my training and practice in public speaking. ;-)

I never taught Ed or shared my political viewpoint while he worked for me. And, it is only recently, in the last few years, that I realized his strongly held beliefs. As I stated in the video, he has his right to them, even though I disagree.
