Wheatfield man authors first book on military experiences

Wheatfield - Terry W. Sako's first book is now on sale.
Sako, who has lived in Wheatfield since 1996, and is originally from Hobart, wrote his book 395 and a Wake Up, based on his experience in the United States Marines during the Vietnam war.
“In the Iraqi war there is a lot of useless death, “ said Sako. “There is a lot of guerrilla warfare, not one on one with another soldier. It was like this in Vietnam; I wrote a book on that. Vietnam war is similar in many ways to the Iraqi war.”
395 and a Wake Up is the story of Bobby Murphy, who enlisted in the Marines at the age of 18 and was sent to Vietnam. While in Vietnam, Murphy is introducecd to the horror of guerrilla warfare and the racial tensions between America's black and white soldiers.
Sako served in the United States Marine Corps from August 1967 to June 1970. He served in the Vietnam war from January 1968 until August 1969 in the shore party battalion.
Sako suffers with post traumatic stress disorder. He was diagnosed with a total PTSD disability by the physicians at the veterans administration in 1991.
“Fiction based on my experiences,” is how Sako describes his book.
Sako is currently working on his second book.
