Bobby “Chicago” Murphy is only eighteen and living the life that was Vietnam. From boredom to fear, heat to rain, safety to life-threatening danger, Bobby experiences it all.
This book grabbed me from the first work and didn’t let go! Born in 1963 myself, I’ve heard a lot about Vietnam but had no real idea how it was. After reading this book, I feel as if I was right there living each event next to Bobby. The book has such a genuine feel to it, that I think any reader would be touched by it. The author does a superb job of creating the scenes, dialogue and characters. It is so compelling that I can not think of a single suggestion to improve what’s already there.
It is very rare to read a book so perfectly crafted, and so touchingly and eerily real. I don’t know how much of the story is true to the life of the author, but his soul is there on every page. I feel honored to have experienced this story and urge the author to “just write something” more. You are truly a gifted writer and have much to share!
