Susan Whitfield will sign copies of her two mystery novels, Genesis Beach and Just North of Luck at the 2008 Relay for Life event in Wayne County, North Carolina. Whitfield, a long-time supporter of the American Cancer Society and Wayne County's unit, has been wanting to get more involved, but wasn't sure how. "I decided that since I now had a product, I could put myself out there in a campsite and hope to sell many books for a good cause. One hundred percent of all proceeds and donations will be turned over to the Wayne County Relay For Life chairperson. I do this in honor of my grandson, Caleb, who was diagnosed with leukemia when he was only two-years-old. He is now a healthy eight-year-old. Since Wayne County has a huge number of cancer victims, I want to do what I can to get more people involved, because if cancer hasn't struck your family yet, it probably will."

 Whitfield's theme is "Fighting Cancer From the Mountains to the Sea" since one novel is set on the North Carolina coast and the other in the state's Blue Ridge Mountains
