I haven't posted in a long long time. Here's the reason(s):
I started back to work in April of this year ( I work as a residential coordinator for a large paving company in the Northeast and I work April through October then off - with pay- for the winter months)....and immediately was immersed in one of the busiest seasons we've ever had. See, the year before I was a receptionist for the company and we were growing, so I helped with residential scheduling. This year I was given a promotion (and pay raise). My boss advertised much more, bought some 800 numbers and we exploded! Weekends have been spent catching up on family and rest (believe me, I needed it!). Thus, my writing suffered.
In addition, we sold our condo and moved last year while my husband was waiting to get a postal job. In September (just when the season was REALLY heating up), my husband went to an interview with a post office in western Massachusetts and got hired...they wanted him to start in two weeks. For those of you who've read my bio...we live on the EASTERN coast of Massachusetts. This means we had to:
1. Find an apartment
2. Pack
3. Find a mover (who didn't charge an arm and a leg)
4. Arrange for the move, finishing packing, let our current landlord know, arrange for utilities, etc
5. Get new apartment ready to live in short term while still not moved from old since they wanted him to start in the next two weeks.
6. Actually move (that is a whole story in itself...I have a bunch to say about the movers we got!)
7. Realizing that with the price of gasoline...an hour commute means I will be buying a hybrid come Spring!
In the midst of all this, I started a weight loss program (I've lost 40 pounds!) with Weight Watchers (yeah for them!!!) and an exercise program (using the gazelle...yeah Tony Little's gazelle machine...works great for me).
Suffice it to say, I've been stressing!
So, here I am, moved to a new town, surrounded by boxes, season finally winding down and REALLY looking forward to the time off to get the new apartment into a livable shape (you know, where you aren't looking for the frying pan, spices, etc)...and of course, writing some more!
This was no mere illusion. Colin Chase Rand, pulled through a magical portal, landed in 1935 where the dust bowl and the Great Depression was destroying lives, and a serial killer was in their midst
