One day after coming home from the library this title came into my head - The Secret Life of Ashley Miles. This title is what led me to write my first novel. After many, many months of writing (with a few hiatus breaks in between) my novel was finished. I was on my way to getting it published. All that I needed to do was edit it. And that proved to be the hardest part.

I was editing the novel for a long time and even asked some people to read it and let me know their thoughts. They told me the novel was great and that they enjoyed it but they couldn’t offer any suggestions for improvement. I thought this meant the novel is perfect and can be published. Turns out I was wrong in thinking that.

I was ready to upload everything to my publisher when I got feedback from another person who told me my novel needs a lot of work. And the way the feedback was presented, while it was constructive in part, it made me very upset, and made me feel like I've failed completely. This made me push the novel aside as if it didn’t matter to me anymore.

Now that I wasn't working on the novel anymore, I was left feeling empty and disappointed. My dream of publishing a novel had failed. I had failed. And I wasn't happy about it.

After some time had passed I realized I can't leave the novel. It matters to me, it's important to me, and it's not a bad novel at all. What that person told me was just her opinion and I had to let it go. I had to publish the novel and so I did.

I think my story is interesting and enjoyable and I think it will connect with readers and make a lasting impression...
