Poets' Roundtable of Arkansas 2015

Poetry

National Poetry Day in Arkansas 2015 was a ringing success for many area poets.

Although I was with family in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for most of October and missed the annual celebration of Poetry Day sponsored by Poets' Roundtable of Arkansas, poets from around the country were awarded for competing for 26 coveted awards at this highly respected annual event.

I was blessed to receive:

1st Place Sharp Award for "The Man in the Mirror"

2nd Place Opal Jane & Harry O"Neal Humor Award for "January Alarm"

3rd Place Jeanie Carter-Nina Tillery Memorial Award for "Verla Jo Nelson"

3rd Place Bobby J. Hayes Memorial Award for "Triple Impact"

"The Man in the Mirror" is about being inside prison walls.

"January Alarm" is based on what can happen to anyone throughout the Christmas season.

"Verla Jo Nelson" is a mother-daughter story from beyond the grave.

"Triple Impact" describes the effect of Altzheimer's on patient and caretaker(s).
