At the annual Coldwater Mens Bowling Association Banquet in April 2004 William Heffner was the 21st inductee into the Bowling Hall Of Fame.
William added 2 more 300 games to his list of accomplishments in April 2004 and now has 7 total 300 games and counting.
Association Secretary Ken Frick listed at the top of William Heffner's long list of accomplishments is 22 Coldwater Bowling Association Championships since 1981, making him the all time leader in a tournament with a history of more than 60 years. William also won 3 bronze medals and 1 gold medal at the 1991 World Police/Fire games in Memphis Tennessee while participating in the bowling event.
William attributes his bowling successes to those he has been so blessed to bowl with over the years, but especially Bill Walk, Tom Relich, John Shiery and Ken Frick.
Ken Frick further stated that William "Bill" is an inspiration on and off the lanes and well deserving of this honor.
William has aspirations of one day returning to the professional ranks of bowling on the Senior Professional Bowling Tour, but at the moment he really enjoys working as a full-time State Corrections Officer and part-time Deputy Sheriff assigned to local schools as a liaison.
William stated "I really feel blessed with the opportunity to inspire local youth, prisoners and all who cross my path to pursue their full potential. I also believe everybody is more than what they are at this very moment, so never quit on yourself, because we are all created in the image of an omnipotent God."
THE CHAMPION
I wanted to be a champion,
to quench my winning thirst,
But I could never get beyond,
second place to first.
Winning just eluded me,
in every single quest,
Though working hard and practicing,
to try and be the best.
Then I went above it all,
to find out what succeeds
And there I found the winning edge,
that every champion needs;
Faith to get the victory
and faith to know within,
Champions always keep the faith,
the faithful always win!
