Faith & Family
This springs to mind for many reasons today. What is the state of your faith?, and what is the condition of your family?
As the congregational recruiter for an organization that bears the name, Faith & Families, I thought it more than appropriate to take an inventory, once again, of the state of my own!
When I looked, I saw that my faith is well placed-it's in nothing less than Jesus' righteousness. It's not lip-service faith, it's been tested in many areas. It's alive and growing.
Then I looked at my family. I asked the question, who is my family? Is it just my daughter, my mother, sisters and brothers and their children and their children? Or does it extend to relatives that I don't know that well, yet share the same blood line and ancestry? Are they really family, if I don't even know them or have relationship?
I was reminded of the question that Jesus posed when he was teaching and someone came and told Him that His mother was there. Jesus said to their shock "Who is my mother?" The answer was-the one who does the will of the Father!
So, as I ponder Faith and Family, I am aware that once we enter relationship with Jesus, our family indeed expands. We share the same blood. The blood of a resurrected Savior.
And within my own, Lewis bloodline, we are blessed and bound by the blood, as well. We are family. We grow, at times, independently, and sometimes in unison, but we are branches of the same vine. We shall nourish, encourage, and support our own. WE ARE FAMILY!
Take time to inventory your life and relationships. You may need to re-stock!
