Chimney Bluffs is in the home stretch. We have completed editing. The cover is done. I am pleased that we are using photographs that I took at Chimney Bluffs State Park. The book has been sent to an outside reader, who will have it for 6 - 8 weeks, as far as I can tell. Depending on his/her review, it could come back to me (and my editor) for additional (minor) editing. Distribution work, press releases, etc. come next and then it should be ready for release. I am still hoping for a pre - Christmas launch, but it is hard to tell.
As for Charlie No Face, I just did a book club yesterday and will do another next week. They are always enjoyable. Lately I’ve been asked to talk more broadly about writing, which is fun. It helps me think about what I actually do when I sit down in front of the computer.
Wasn’t sure when Charlie would be used this year in the Spencerport High School curriculum. Recently found out that ninth graders will read it in their second semester. Happy about that.
Since I find myself waiting for the next phase of Chimney Bluffs, I have had additional time to work on my next novel, More More Time. I just crossed the 40,000 word mark, or about 145 pages. I am enjoying it more than I was a couple of months ago. I have a much better feel for the characters. It seems like I am reaching the midway point, beyond which individual threads must become more intertwined and the novel must take its concluding form. Maybe I’ll be done by spring.
