I'm very pleased that readers are appreciative of my new novel.

Of course, the events that occurred today in Conn. overshadow everything else. Here are some thoughts that I posted on Facebook:

I am sickened by the events that have transpired today at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn. The senseless murder of innocents. I am sickened that the leadership in our country has not found the courage to address the culture of gun violence that has come to define us as a society. I am sickened by the shrill defensiveness of the right; and by the impotent posturing of the left. I am not against the second amendment. But I believe that any hard fought right brings with it responsibilities that may reasonably call for limiting that right. Those who defend free speech recognize that it doesn’t include the right to yell “Fire!” in a crowded building. Limits should be placed on the second amendment, not because it will eradicate such incidents as the one that has occurred today, but because it will signal that we recognize our responsibility to address the dark side of any of our cherished rights. In the best of all worlds, the NRA would take the lead in addressing the significant dangers that lie at the heart of our right to bear arms.
