I hope that, to date, 2013 is treating all of you very well.

I continue to work diligently on a new novel, “More More Time.” I started this story in August 2011, but after a few months threw most of it out and started over. Nevertheless, I have been working on it longer than I have worked on any of my other novels. The central character of this story is a 62 year old history teacher who, in the first chapter, has fallen down his basement steps. Subsequently, he starts hearing two words strung together over and over: endingworldendingworldendingworld. No, this is not an apocalyptic novel about the End of the World, but it is a story about time and how we use it.

I have passed the 60,000 word mark, which is notable because my last novel - - - Chimney Bluffs - - - was 68,000 words long upon completion. That is not going to be the case this time. I still have considerably more to do with this story and doubt I will be done before late spring.

In the meantime, I continue to market “Chimney Bluffs.” Those who have read it and have taken the time to communicate with me, have liked it, which is good. I have a book club, a reading, a blog review, an interview with a Democrat and Chronicle writer, and blog interview all scheduled. It has been a very slow process, though, much slower than “Charlie No Face,” which continues to get attention.

If I could spend my time writing and then magically the book would automatically be “out there” in the reader world, I would be a very happy man.
