From the desk of Sage Sweetwater, I hope this newsletter finds you all well and thriving into the fresh New Year 2007. This month's newsletter is an old wrinkle with a new twist! Recently, I have had the distinct pleasure of making contact with many Hollywood types, producers, directors, filmmakers, screenwriters, actors, actresses, film set designers, movie pre-production, movie post production, still movie photographers, film editors, movie scene locators, and Hollywood make-up artists and special effects. This month's newsletter, Sage Sweetwater is putting SplatterLad into the spotlight!

Coming right off his bio page, SplatterLad, make-up artist and special effects creator began drawing and sculpting at an early age. As he grew, his passion for horror/monster movies, led SplatterLad into the wonderful world of film-making and a career in make-up effects. In addition to doing effects for a handful of films, SplatterLad has also acted and done voice-over work, for a variety of multi-media productions.

SplatterLad is also a screenwriter and is currently working on several projects, involving major studios. Between gigs, he is in the process of co-developing a website that will feature his work and eventually, that of other artists as well. ___SPOILER: IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS FILM "MASK" WHICH I'M SURE MOST OF YOU HAVE, YOU MAY NOT WANT TO READ FURTHER. BELOW TELLS THE PLOTLINE AND ENDING OF THE MOVIE, what we call a spoiler in the entertainment business, meaning it reveals the outcome of the movie and one may not want to read what happens before they view the movie.

___The film concerns the life and early death of Roy L. "Rocky" Dennis, a boy who suffered from craniodiaphyseal dysplasia, an extremely rare disorder known commonly as lionitis due to the disfiguring cranial enlargements that it causes.

____Rocky's mother Rusty Dennis (Cher) is determined to give the boy as normal a life as possible, despite her own wild ways as a member of a biker gang. She fights to have him included in a mainstream junior high school, when the principal would rather classify him with mental retardation in order to have him sent to a special education school. Rocky (Stoltz) goes on to thrive in the school, gradually overcoming discrimination and eventually finding a girlfriend (Dern). At the end of the film, Rocky dies at the age of 16.

Whoever made the special effect mask for Eric Stoltz's character, Rocky Dennis, Kudos! Without the realistic portrayal of the disfiguring lionitis, the movie would not have been, COULD NOT have been made.

Recently, I had a conversation with SplatterLad about our networking connection. I told him, pertaining to my novel FROM THE CONVENT TO THE RAWHIDE: THE SAGA OF SADIE CADE AND VI MONTANA which is being reviewed by a Hollywood director for possible screen adaptation, that SplatterLad could change my nun character Sister Pish into a hellcat and back again, when she has a dual with the Devil in what we call Alzheimer's, the black dungeon of Hell. It's all about transformation, people!
